Changes in Urban Life
As many people were attempting to pass the Black Death as a punishment from God, other, more level headed citizens, believed the plague to be due to the unhealthy urban life. To create a cleaner environment for people laws were passed that prohibited waste being dumped in the streets, bathhouses were closed, as they were seen as another source of uncleanliness in the cities, and prostitution was regulated in an attempt to organize it.
Some efforts to organizing the institution were to create brothels that were ordered to supervise and tax the prostates. On top of this the prostitutes were made to wear special red hats so that they were distinguished from normal women.

Family Life and Sex Roles in Late Medieval Cities
Before the plague families were started late in life as men had to work to earn a large amount of money so that beginning a family would be seamless. This changed after the Black Death as the nuclear family, the father, mother, and children, were presented with more opportunities due to the general decrease in prices and the ability for the men to earn better wages.
Along with the earlier marriages that appeared after the plague a belief that men were dominate in every aspect of life and that women should be submissive at every turn began to dominate 14th century Europe. There are some records of women running businesses, but it was commonly accepted that they weren't as competent as male shopkeepers and that they couldn't possibly accept all of the responsibilities and jobs the men had to undertake every day and were therefore not as reliable business owners. A small change occurred within the norm, however, after the Black Death. Because of the death of so many male employes the women were able to take up more jobs and were more depended upon.

Medieval Children
As the markets and universities began to become more and more specialized the communities of Middle Age Europe realized that there needed to be a greater emphasis on the education of children. Many accepted the common belief that the earlier the children became apprentices and started to practice a trade the better they'd be as masters later on. The girls were only provided a grammar level education the boys continued on to other schools that taught them specifically about different professions including:
Medicine
Law
Church Affairs
Trade
Another aspect of Middle Age children's lives that was emphasized was their health. This was a priority because of the recent deaths caused by the Black Death. This pressure to emphasize health is evident by the emergence of hospitals in multiple cities in the 1420's and 1430's. Hospitals also supported foundlings until they could support themselves by means of a job or marriage (Spielvogel).
