Effects of the Crusades
The Crusades didn't make any large impact on the Middle East, but they did effect Europe quite a bit. The Crusades helped with the trade in the Italian port cities; most notably Genoa, Pisa, and Venice. The only reason that the Crusades did happen, though, was because people were getting richer, so the effect they had on the port cities was not huge. The Crusades also began bad habits, such as the mistreatment of Jews, started by Peter the Hermit. This greatly influenced the Jewish race for years to come. The Crusades did have both negative and positive impacts on European society, but overall, they were a large waste of time, resources, money, and life.
