The countries of eastern Europe were largely divided as well. Many of them had problems centralizing their states that included the fighting of multiple wars, competition from the nobles in the area, ethnic groups, different religions and the necessity to control islands, something that was extremely monotonous. Hungary was the only eastern country able to establish a form of a centralized government under King Matthias Corvinus, but this kingdom didn’t last after his death and Hungary fell back into dissention.
